Civil Process

The Civil Process Section of the Winnebago County Sheriff’s office manages evictions, foreclosures, summons and subpoenas within Winnebago County and is comprised of two sections: process serving and sales and foreclosures.  The Winnebago County Sheriff's Office does not provide a listing of foreclosure sales. For information on foreclosure sales call Civil Process at 815-319-6150.

The Civil Process Section consists of a Deputy Chief who oversees the day to day operation of the section, both inside and outside the office and handles the foreclosure sales; Three merited deputies who are assigned to handle levies, replevins, evictions and other enforceable orders in addition to making proper service and returns of all papers directed to the Sheriff to be served or enforced.  Process servers work normal office hours but will often adjust their schedule in an effort to complete their services. By adjusting their schedules very few overtime hours are generated.

The Civil Process Section is open to the public from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, and can be reached by calling 815-319-6150.
