Narcotic enforcement for the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department is conducted by deputies assigned to the Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit, which is part of the Detective Bureau. The unit is supervised by a detective sergeant and under the command of the Deputy Chief of Detectives.
Deputies assigned to the Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit are specially trained in the enforcement of narcotic laws and work cooperatively with other agencies (local, state and federal) to combat the illegal drug trade.
Members of the Sheriff's Office Narcotic Unit work closely with the public and neighborhood organizations to obtain information on locations and individuals selling illegal narcotics.
The public is reminded that “if you see something, say something”. This can be done anonymously by calling Crime-stoppers (815-963-7867 or Toll-Free at 1-888-769-7867). You also may speak to a deputy assigned to the Sheriff's Office Narcotic Unit by calling the Detective Bureau (815-319-6400).
The narcotic problem affects every member of this community and only by working together will an impact be made. Members of the Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit work tirelessly to make this a safer county.
