  Narrative:   Sheriff Richard A. Meyers of Winnebago County announced today that the Illinois Sheriff=s Association is extremely proud to once again be named as a principal sponsor for the annual Illinois Teenage Institute on Substance Abuse.  Illinois Wesleyan University will host this program.  The dates are as follows:  July 22-26, 2012. The Illinois Teenage Institute is open to anyone who meets the following qualifications:

    • A freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior in the 2012-2013 school year and under 18 years of age.
    • Willing to attend the entire Institute
    • Willing to serve as a youth leader and prevention resource in his or her school, neighborhood or community
    • Responsible
    • Positive and flexible

There will be 60 scholarships issued statewide.  These scholarships will be accepted only on a first come, first serve basis.  As a participant the following will be furnished: tuition, lodging, t-shirt, workshop materials, recreation and meals.  Transportation will not be included.

The Illinois Teenage Institute is not a treatment program; it is a prevention program.
