Shooting

  On Monday May 14, 2012 at approximately 2:47 P.M. Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputies were sent to the area of 302 Lincoln Park Blvd (s), Rockford, Illinois in regards to a shooting. Upon arrival they located a male (26yrs old) with a gunshot wound to his leg. Investigation at the scene determined that the victim worked for Direct USA Meat Company. The victim and a co-worker were in the area in a truck selling meat. They were flagged down by a male, who inquired about purchasing meat. This subject subsequently produced a handgun and attempted to rob the victim. The suspect fired one shot and the victim was hit in the leg. The suspect is described as a male/black, late 20’s or early 30’s, 5’8 170-190lbs.His hair was in braids. He had sideburns and a goatee and he was wearing a brown shirt and khaki shorts. The suspect was last seen northbound on foot. The victim was transported to a Rockford Hospital with a non life-threatening wound. Anyone with information on this shooting is asked to call the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department (815/319-6300) or Crime Stoppers (815/963-7867).
