Attempt Child Abduction (unfounded)

  On Wednesday May 18, 2011 an attempt child abduction was reported to the South Beloit Police Department. An 8yr old female had reported suspicious circumstances to her parents in reference to several males in a van. An investigation was initiated by the South Beloit Police Department with the assistance of Winnebago County Sheriff’s Detectives. On Thursday night May 19, 2011 the van in question was located and three teenage occupants of the van also were located. Further investigation revealed that no attempt abduction had taken place. The investigation was reviewed with the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office and no charges were authorized.  The case has been closed.
