Shooting Investigation

   On Saturday May 4, 2013 at approximately 7:43P.M. the Durand Illinois Police Department was advised that a shooting had taken place at Saelens Park at 408 E. Elm St. in Durand. A victim was transported to a Rockford Hospital. He is identified as 17yr old Brandon W. Wanker of Davis, Illinois. He was treated and released for a minor wound. Winnebago County Sheriff’s Detectives assisted Durand P.D. with the investigation which resulted in the arrest of Edward W. Evans 19yrs old. He was taken into custody in Byron, Illinois with the assistance of the Ogle County Sheriff’s Department and Byron Police Department. Evans has been charged with Armed Robbery and Aggravated Battery with a Firearm.There was also an un-related juvenile warrant for his arrest. The charges against Evans are merely accusations. He is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
