On Monday May 14, 2012 at approximately 2:47 P.M. Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputies were sent to the area of 302 Lincoln Park Blvd. Rockford, Illinois in regards to a shooting. Upon arrival they located a male (26yrs old) with a gunshot wound to his leg. Investigation at the scene determined that the victim worked for Direct USA Meat Company. The victim and a co-worker were in the area in a truck selling meat. They were flagged down by a male, who inquired about purchasing meat. This subject subsequently produced a handgun and attempted to rob the victim. The suspect fired one shot and the victim was hit in the leg. An investigation conducted by Winnebago County Sheriff’s Detectives was reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office and an arrest warrant and search warrant were authorized. Charged on the warrant for Aggravated Battery with a Firearm and Armed Robbery is Marc Anthony Bell (DOB 1-3-94/18yrs old). He was taken into custody at 201 Lincoln Park Blvd on May 15, 2012 and a search warrant was executed at that residence. The charges against Bell are merely accusations. He is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. Bell was lodged in the Winnebago County Jail.
