No Wake Zone On The Rock River For “head Of The Rock Regatta

 Narrative: Sheriff Richard A. Meyers announces the establishment of a “NO WAKE ZONE” on the Rock River from the Riverside Bridge south to the Jefferson Street Bridge for Saturday, and Sunday, October 8 & 9, 2011, from 7:30 AM through 6:00 PM.  The “NO WAKE ZONE” is for an Illinois Department of Natural Resources permitted event, “HEAD OF THE ROCK” regatta, which is sponsored by the YMCA of Rock River Valley Rowing Club.  River users will encounter row boat racing in this area, along with buoys that may be placed in the river to mark their course. The Sheriff’s River Patrol will be patrolling the river for this event, and as always, caution should be exercised by all when using the river.   For current river conditions, and any further updates, contact the Sheriff’s Office at (815) 319-6300, or the Rock River information telephone line at (815) 316-8888.
