Shooting Death

On Tuesday June 24, 2014 at approximately 1:36a.m.Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputies were sent to 1116 DeAnna Dr in reference to a shooting.

Upon arrival deputies located a 19yr old male deceased in the residence with an apparent shotgun wound. The victim was not a resident of the home.

When Deputies arrived at the scene there was no one else at the residence, however a male later returned to the residence and he was taken into custody.

Winnebago County Sheriff’s Detectives are conducting an investigation of the circumstances of the shooting.

Update:

The victim has been identified as 19yr old Joshua J. Williams (DOB 4-2-95)

Phillip R. Futrell, 19yrs old (DOB 3-24-95) resides at 1116 DeAnna Dr. He is the male who was taken in custody when he returned to the scene.

He has been charged with:

-       Involuntary Manslaughter

The victim and suspect were at the residence with several other people when the shotgun was discharged. A shotgun was recovered at the scene.

The charge against Futrell was authorized after review with the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office. The charge is merely an accusation. Futrell is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

He has been lodged in the Winnebago County Jail.
