On the afternoon of Thursday October 3, 2013 (Augustus E. Young DOB 11-3-81/31yrs old) was arrested in an apartment in the 200 block of Cameron Ave in the Concord Commons Housing Development.
Young was arrested by Detectives of the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Police, the Rockford Police Department and the Loves Park Police Department, as a result of a joint investigation. Also involved in the investigation but not present at the time of the arrest were Agents of the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms and Explosives and the Illinois State Police.
These agencies have combined resources targeting violent criminal street gangs.
Young was wanted on the following warrants:
- Unlawful Use of weapons by a felon
- Aggravated Battery to a senior citizen
- Two counts of Domestic Battery.
- Parole Violation
The unlawful use of weapons charge is a result of an investigation of shots being fired at security guards at Concord Commons on June 23, 2013, and the domestic battery incident in which a gun was displayed, which also took place on 6-23-13 at Concord Commons.
Young, known as “GUS” OR “LIL GUS”, is an alledged member of the “WACO” gang. (A violent criminal street gang in Rockford).
The charges against Young are merely accusations. He is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
Also arrested in the apartment was Whitney F. Watkins Jr. (DOB 10-18-94/18yrs old).
Watkins was charged with Violation of the Illinois Controlled Substances (possession with intent to deliver cocaine).
When entry to the apartment was made Watkins was observed bagging up suspected cocaine.
The charge against Watkins is also an accusation. He is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
