On Friday 9-23-11 at approximately 9:48P.M. South Beloit Police Officers and Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputies were sent to 1608 Hayes Ave in South Beloit in regards to an individual who had fired shots outside of the residence and then barricaded himself in the residence. Upon arrival the Officers spoke to relatives and neighbors of Chad Juno (male DOB 1-8-86/25yrs old). Juno lives alone at the residence. The family members advised that Juno is an Iraq war veteran and has been very depressed lately. They advised that prior to the Officers arrival he fired a gun several times and then barricaded himself in the home with weapons. The on scene Officers secured the scene and called for assistance. The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department Swat Team and Hostage Negotiators were called and responded to the Hayes address. Neighbors were evacuated and the Swat team deployed. Negotiators were able to make phone contact with Juno and spoke to him on and off for several hours and he finally gave himself up. A search of the residence was conducted and several weapons were recovered. Juno was charged with Reckless Discharge of a firearm and was lodged in the Winnebago County Jail. A photo of Juno is attached. Juno is considered innocent unless proven guilty in court.
