Detective Michael Mayborne was shot and killed while chasing a bank robbery suspect. The suspect Theodore Bacino was sentenced to 199 years in prison and was denied parole June 27, 2013 for the 29th time. He was not eligible for parole and remained in prison. His sentence was completed in 2015, however he was not paroled until 2016.
Detective Mayborne had served with the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office for six years. He was survived by his wife, two daughters, father, sister and five nieces and nephews.
