First Degree Murder (death Of Baby 9-22-11)/ Arrest

   On September 22, 2011 South Beloit Illinois Police Officers were sent to 608 Wheeler Ave in South Beloit, in regards to the death of an infant boy. Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputies were sent to assist. Upon arrival South Beloit Officers and Deputies found 6 week old Jackson Betts deceased. An autopsy conducted by the Winnebago County Coroner’s office determined that the death was due to lack of adequate food and medical care. Results of an investigation conducted by Winnebago County Sheriff’s Detectives were reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s office and a warrant was authorized for First Degree Murder for the child’s mother, Kayla A. Lund (DOB 3-7-89). The warrant was issued on May 23, 2012. Kayla Lund was arrested on 5-23-12 and lodged in the Winnebago County Jail. The charge against Ms Lund is merely an accusation. She is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
