NARRATIVE:Winnebago County Sheriff Richard Meyers and Winnebago County Board Chairman Scott Christiansen are announcing that countywide debris clean up and used sandbag collection from the recent flooding along the Rock River began today, and will continue until all areas are cleared of debris. State resources consisting of a state prisoner work crew along with State of Illinois Department of Transportation trucks and end loaders (along with the personnel resources) are being coordinated through IEMA.  These crews are working along with Winnebago County resources consisting of the Sheriff’s inmate work crew and Winnebago County Highway Department trucks and end loaders and personnel. Although most of the areas that were severely affected by the flooding are known (such as Edgemere Terrace in the Roscoe Area, Shore Drive in Machesney Park, and Blackhawk Island in Southern Winnebago County,) other isolated areas were also affected which span from the Stateline area in South Beloit to the Winnebago / Ogle County line. We urge residents in these areas to place debris from flooding, and any used sandbags to the curb.  These items will then be picked up by one of the work crews.  Residents in the isolated areas should call the Winnebago County EOC at (815) 319-6215 with their address, to ensure that all debris / sandbags are picked up and properly disposed.
