On Sunday July 22, 2012 at approximately 6:18a.m.Police and Fire units were sent to the area of 100 River St. in Roscoe, Illinois in regards to a body in the Rock River. On arrival Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputies and Roscoe Police Officers were directed to the river by a fisherman who advised that he had spotted the body in the river. Fire Department personnel were able to recover the body. There were no obvious signs of trauma to the body. The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office took charge of the body. The individual has been identified and his name will be released by the Coroner once his family has been contacted. Winnebago County Sheriff’s Detectives are continuing with the investigation. At this time there is no indication of foul play. CORRECTION (7-23-12): THE ORIGINAL PRESS RELEASE SENT OUT ON THIS INCIDENT ON 7-22-12 INDICATED THAT FIRE DEPARTMENT UNITS WERE PRESENT AT THE SCENE OF THE RECOVERY. THIS IS NOT CORRECT. THERE WERE NO FIRE UNITS PRESENT. ONLY POLICE AND CORONER UNITS WERE AT THE SCENE. DOMINIC IASPARRO
