NARRATIVE:Some areas of Winnebago County received moderate to severe flooding over the past several days.  Due to some of the extensive damage that has occurred in the Village of Pecatonica, representatives from the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) have been in the area to conduct an overview of this damage.  Winnebago County Sheriff Richard Meyers has initiated an effort to conduct an assessment of areas outside of Pecatonica that were subject to flood damage.  Winnebago County Emergency Services and Disaster Agency (ESDA), the Village of Machesney Park, and Sheriff’s personnel are working to complete these assessments in the areas which are known to be most severely affected by the flooding—mainly in the Edgemere Terrace, Machesney Park (Shore Dr./Marquette Blvd./Liberty Blvd. neighborhoods), and New Milford area.  Residents will be contacted as these assessments are completed, and this information will be forwarded to IEMA representatives.   Although most of the areas that were severely affected by the flooding are known, other isolated areas may have also been affected.  We urge residents who have had damage from the recent flooding and have not been contacted regarding an assessment, to report information to the Winnebago County ESDA at 815-319-6215 so that an assessment can be conducted to be included in the information we will provide to IEMA. IEMA will review the information that is submitted and make a determination of additional resources or recovery processes that may be appropriate or available to victims of the flooding.
