Information: Predicted Flooding for the Rock River in Winnebago County |

Narrative: The National Weather Service is predicting that the Rock River in Winnebago will rise significantly over the next several days. Due to these predictions and to pre-plan the potential for moderate flooding, the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department is notifying residents in flood prone areas to be aware of these predictions and conditions as they may change. In anticipation of moderate flooding that may occur, sand and sand bags will be available at two locations:· Harlem Roscoe Fire Station #1—10544 Main Street in Roscoe;· Michalsen Office Furniture—8010 North Second Street in Machesney Park. The Sheriff’s Department is also utilizing our City Watch Emergency Notification System to alert affected residents of the possibility of flooding. Additionally, beginning at 0800 Hrs. on Saturday, July 24, 2010, a NO WAKE Zone will be in effect on the entire Rock River in Winnebago County. The Winnebago County Emergency Operations Center will be staffed until the flood threat no longer exists.
