On Sunday May 20, 2012 at approximately 4:25 P.M. Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputies were sent to the area of 2312 Illinois St, in regards to a found pontoon boat. Upon arrival they found an empty pontoon boat on the east cement boat ramp that leads from the Rock River. The pontoon was un-occupied. The pontoon is owned by Terry J. McFaddin (52yrs old of Loves Park, Illinois.) McFaddin had dropped off friends at the Verdi club between 3 and 3:30a.m.on Sunday 5-20-12. He was last seen northbound on the river in the pontoon alone, headed towards his home. On the afternoon of Monday May 21, 2012 The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department, Rockford Fire Department and Illinois Department of Conservation Police continued searching the Rock River for Terry McFaddin. Each agency deployed boats and Rockford Fire and Department of Conservation each had sonar. A body was located by the sonar about two hundred yards south of where McFaddin’s pontoon was located. The body was in the center of the river in about twelve feet of water. Rockford Fire divers recovered the body and he has  been identified as Terry McFaddin. The Winnebago County Coroner’s office took control of the body and an autopsy will be scheduled.  The investigation is on-going.
