Winnebago County Sheriff Gary Caruana is honoring 16 sheriff’s deputies who have successfully administered the medication narcan to help revive individuals who overdosed on heroin in recent months.

 

The deputies include Ken Austin, Angie Tetzlaff-Cavazos, Tim Griesman, Trent Ostergard, Luke Wagner, Mario Rutiaga, Fred Jones, Gabe Eiten, Cole Henert, James Abate, Ron James, Brooke Engberg, Stan Metzler, Tom Morrison, Steve Martellaro, and Troy Zellman.

 

Sheriff’s deputies underwent narcan training last year to address the community’s heroin epidemic. The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department has also provided narcan training to all other law enforcement agencies in the area.
